Easter Weekend

What a great Easter Weekend! We colored Easter Eggs, had a birthday dinner for Darin and spent Easter Sunday with our family. At two and a half, Lincoln is so interested in everything we are doing and wants to be a part of it all. He had a blast coloring easter eggs with Darin. He's still a little clumsy, so we had to hover over him to avoid any spills. He loved hunting Easter Eggs but was easily distracted by what was in them!

Kayak Trip...Take Two

Lucky for the guys, the waters were back to normal and perfect for the kayak trip on Wednesday. I opted to stay back with the girls and take in some shopping. Lincoln thought sleeping sounded better than shopping. I just love the beautiful weather of Hawaii. You just want to sit outside all day long.

Extreme Kayaking...no thanks!

Yesterday we attempted to kayak to Cook's Monument. The ocean looked like a professional surfers dream. I'm pretty sure Darin would have still attempted to go had there not been three others against him. They tried again today and it was a success. I opted to stay back and hang with the girls.
Last night we ate dinner at a great little shack next to the Marina called Bite Me! Great Fish Tacos. We got to watch them hoist up a 350 pound blue marlin caught on one of the boats. Pretty cool.
I just love this Hawaii weather...I ran in shorts for the first time since October. Because in Hawaii its always shorts weather! And shorts weather feels that much sweeter when there is a blizzard back home. Sorry Folks!

We've been having fun over the past few days...playing at the beach, driving up to the volcano and visiting the town of Hilo. We spent most of Thursday afternoon at the beach playing in the sand. Darin built sandcastles for Lincoln and buried him up to his chest in the sand. Lincoln had a blast. Before digging our toes in the sand, Lloyd and Darin grilled burgers at a nearby picnic tables overlooking the beach. It was a beautiful day!

We left the Condo Friday morning and headed towards Hilo. Along the way we drove up to the top of Mauna Kea where there are several observatories. It was a chilly 48 degrees, which sounds warm compared to the below freezing temperatures they are having back in Oklahoma. After a quick look, I was ready to get back to sea level and the 80 degree temps! We were advised not to take Lincoln to the top to avoid altitude sickness. Nesi and Connie were kind enough to stay at the visitors lodge and do some entertaining.

We made our way on over to Hilo and had a picnic lunch in the beautiful bay. After checking into the hotel, we took the jeep on a scenic drive and did a small hike to see some waterfalls. For dinner, we took Darin's advice and ate at Ocean Sushi....it was good enough to take his advice again!

Saturday we made a visit to the Hilo farmer's market and drove through Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. It was a fun day with a long drive home. Everyone was exhausted by the time we got home. Tomorrow holds new adventures!

From this........ to this!

After two days of travel, we have made it to Hawai'i! We left Tulsa and headed to Dallas Monday evening, running away from the blizzard in Oklahoma. We nearly got stuck in our hotel Tuesday morning because the hotel shuttles and cabs were having a problem driving through the ice. How terrible to be stuck this close to the airport! Luckily, another hotel shuttle was able to pick us up and get us to the airport. Of 9 flights from Dallas to LA we were the only flight that made it out. We landed in Hawai'i at 9:30 Tuesday night (which was 1:30am our body time). Lincoln did such a great job on both flights...he slept close to the entire time on each flight. This 80 degree weather sure beats the single temps we left behind!

One Two Skip A Few...

Christmas 2010
I realize I have skipped a few months since I last posted on the Blog. Blogging is something I really WANT to do but rarely find the time to actually do it. But it's a new year, a new day and I'm going to give it a try once again....
We had a really great Christmas with nearly ALL of our family. David, Anna and Alice were not able to make it from Sweden. Alice will be welcoming a new baby brother in early February...probably not the best idea to put mom on a plane for 12+ hours this close to her due date.
Over the Holiday, we celebrated Christmas 6 different times, spent 6 nights away from home and slept in 3 different beds. Lincoln was such a great sport through our travels and had a great time playing with all of his cousins. Oh yes, and Santa was good to him too! In fact, he opened so many gifts he had to lay down to finish the job.

About Me

Wife to Darin and Mommy to Lincoln. I am a stay at home mom and I am so thankful. Everyday is a new adventure-live it to the fullest!
